  • Greenskeeper

    Job Summary

    We are currently looking for individuals to join our Deer Creek Turf Maintenance team as a Greenskeeper who is passionate about working in the Golf Industry and who holds themselves to superior standards regarding customer service, guest experience and providing exceptional quality of service and play.

    Job Requirements:

    Responsibilities and Duties

    This position is responsible for performing routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance. A Greenskeeper operates small hand powered equipment and performs work involving large equipment such as triplex mowers, golf carts, tractors, rotary and reel mowers. Each Greenskeeper is assigned the responsibility to maintain 27 holes of golf.

    • Waters and fertilizes greens, tees and fairways
    • Operates all equipment related to golf course maintenance in a safe and efficient manner
    • Operates diesel and gasoline powered equipment including tractors, greens and tees mowers, both riding and walking, mechanical sand rakes, fairway mowers, large rotary mowers, aerifiers, topdressers, utility vehicles, verticut units, greens rollers, sod cutter, overseeder, weed eaters and hand blowers
    • Performs basic repairs on golf course irrigation system as required
    • Performs routine golf course maintenance such as changing holes and tee blocks, repairing divots and ball marks, servicing ball washers and litter containers, bunker maintenance and maintenance of flower and shrub beds
    • Available to work long hours, weekends and during inclement weather.
    • Cleans and maintains Turf Maintenance Facility, performs routine inspections of on course washrooms
    • Makes necessary reports and interacts with the public to ensure the safe and orderly use of golf courses and provides good public relations
    • Adhere to all employment policies and procedures as laid out in the golf course employment handbook
    • Follow health and safety policies and procedures
    • Perform other duties/work as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Basic understanding of power equipment and tools required to maintain the golf course
    • Previous experience working on a golf course an asset but not required
    • Good Physical Strength - Ability to stand/walk/bend/push/pull for extended periods of time
    • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
    • Ability to follow and take direction from Supervisors/Managers

  • Back Shop / Cart Attendant - Deer Creek

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Welcome all golfers and help them navigate throughout the facility when asked
    • Responsible for opening and closing or the cart compound
    • Responsible for ensuring the power and pull carts are clean and in proper order
    • Responsible for providing clean and organized rental clubs and service

    • Maintain equipment and keep back shop area clean and tidy

    • Use the guidance of the Golf Supervisor and Pro Shop for daily duties and direction, or any problems that you are unable to solve yourself

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Assist in the development and implementation of the pace of play.
    • Maintain established starting time intervals in coordination with the golf shop staff to ensure pace of play
    • Enforce and implement the rules, regulations, policies and procedures established by Deer Creek Golf Clubs.
    • Maintain daily records and prepare reports of all incidents, accidents and customer concerns.
    • Inform and educate customers about pace of play, golf rules and golf etiquette.
    • Perform light maintenance duties, such as filling divots, repairing ball marks and trash removal
    • Assist with tournament organization (signage, scoring, cart setup, proximity markers, registration etc.)
    • Adhere to all employment policies and procedures as laid out in the golf course employment handbook
    • Follow health and safety policies and procedures
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Good understanding of the game of golf
    • 1 year of experience working as a Player Assistant or Marshall an asset
    • Good Physical Strength - Ability to stand/walk/bend/push/pull for extended periods of time.
    • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
    • Ability to follow and take direction from Supervisors/Managers

  • Pro Shop Attendant

    Responsibilities and Duties

    This position is responsible for providing an exceptional guest experience through various points of contact, merchandising, pro shop retail sales, guest reception and overseeing golf services personnel.

    • Responsible for opening and closing of Pro Shop
    • Sell products, manage daily sales activities including reconciliations through the Point of Sale (POS) system
    • Restocking of Pro Shop products and supplies
    • Tracking of club rentals and demos
    • Stay up to date with new and changing information on all promotions and special events
    • Answering telephone and booking tee times as well as customer inquiries etc.
    • Assist with tournament organization (signage, scoring, registration etc.)
    • Maintaining a clean and professional work space/retail area including windows, dusting and vacuuming
    • Follow health and safety policies and procedures
    • Adhere to the employment policies and procedures as laid out in the golf course employment handbook
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor

    Qualifications and Skills

    • A basic understanding of the game of golf an asset but not required
    • Previous experience working in a Pro Shop an asset but not required
    • Post Secondary degree/diploma in Professional Golf Management (PGM), Sports Management, or related discipline an asset
    • Previous experience with a Point of Sale System an asset
    • Comfortable directing Golf Services personnel
    • Good Physical Strength - Ability to stand/walk/bend/push/pull for extended periods of time.
    • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
    • Ability to follow and take direction from Supervisors/Managers
